Canada’s IRCC Minister Sean Fraser announces the upcoming launch of a new immigration pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP), designed to connect skilled refugees and displaced persons with Canadian employers.
Set to launch this summer, the EMPP aims to address labour shortages in key occupations by pairing skilled refugees and other displaced persons with Canadian employers in need of their expertise. The new pathway will provide opportunities to fill in-demand jobs such as nurse aids, personal support workers, long-term care aids, software engineers, web designers, mechanical and electrical engineers and technicians, teachers, tourism and hospitality workers, and truck and delivery service drivers.
Over the next few years, Canada plans to expand the EMPP and welcome 2,000 qualified refugees and displaced persons to help fill labour shortages through this innovative program.
